The Club Where Everybody Knows Your Name

When Cindy White and Jane Hastings decided to relocate from La Jolla, California, they left no stone unturned selecting the location of their new home. They considered other resort areas in California and Florida, but after spending a week in the Coachella Valley, they landed on the luxurious Griffin Ranch development in La Quinta, purchasing a residence in January 2022.

“We didn’t feel that there was enough diversity in our previous community,” says White, who works for Amazon Web Services, the cloud computing division of Amazon. “I had been coming to the desert for years visiting a friend in Palm Desert. Jane and I look at other properties here, but we really liked the newer developments and golf options at PGA WEST®.”

Their real estate agent, who is very active in the PGA WEST community, invited them to attend a few events with her. “We really liked it,” White recalls. “We just felt like the people were not pretentious, very nice and inclusive.”

A New Jersey native, White went to college in Arizona; after graduating, she moved back east to New York City. She then migrated to Denver, Colorado where she met Hastings, who owned and operated a fitness studio. Hastings sold the business, they moved to San Diego and, when COVID hit, she started working with personal training clients via Zoom. Hastings continues to do so, quipping that the commute is awesome.

White and Hastings have been together for 13 years and were legally married in 2014. They are pet parents to two miniature dogs—a Bernedoodle and Labradoodle.

While White plays golf, Hasting is a pickleball enthusiast and likes to bike. They both love to socialize— “we go out almost every night”—and have participated in hiking, wine dinners, and many other activities and amenities available at The Club at PGA WEST®.

“The people here are really friendly and have a really good attitude about finding commonalities, being inclusive and having a good time,” White says. “The lifestyle here is different than any other place. I call it Disneyland for adults."
