The American Express 2024 Champion Nick Dunlap
The 65th edition of The American Express™ golf tournament at PGA WEST® is in the books with players and fans experiencing history-making moments in professional golf. Nick Dunlap, a 20-year-old University of Alabama student achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first amateur golfer to win a PGA TOUR event since Phil Mickelson in 1991. Dunlap captured the win at -29, closely leading Christiaan Bezuidenhout (-28). Kevin Yu, Xander Schaffele and Justin Thomas all came in two strokes behind at -27.
The American Express™ Concert Series was a hit both nights. Fans turned out en masse for Keith Urban on Friday night. Urban played a high-energy 90-minute set list and signed a fan’s banjo.
And a little rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the huge crowd who caught the Train concert on Saturday night. The Grammy Award-winning pop rock band wowed the audience, performing a number of favorites including “Calling All Angels” and “Meet Virginia.”
And in a comedic turn worth noting, during Round 1 on January 18, to everyone’s astonishment, Adam Schenk’s 3-iron on the 16th hole of the Pete Dye Stadium Course landed in a fan’s drink!
The fan experience was as fantastic as always with great venues including the new fan zone, The Turn. PGA WEST and Citrus Club Members and their guests also had exclusive access to The Bunker overlooking hole #18 (Alcatraz) of the Pete Dye Stadium Course.
Thanks to the PGA WEST team and volunteers for their hard work in preparing the two tournament courses for this milestone year of The American Express™!
Keep an eye out for the 2025 dates of The American Express™ golf tournament. PGA WEST values its partnership with American Express and this iconic PGA TOUR event and looks forward to welcoming back golf fans from around the globe.
