Where the PGA legend comes to life.
There can be no doubt, PGA WEST and its history are synonymous with the game of professional golf. Many tournaments have taken place over the years here in the coveted locale of sunny La Quinta, California. Ideally situated in the greater Palm Springs area and the Coachella Valley, PGA WEST enjoys a blend of nearly 365 days of sunshine and La Quinta’s irresistible small-town warmth, making the area a destination for travelers the world over.
The Club at PGA WEST was opened for membership in 1985, and the enthusiasm of the Members took hold even before the first golf course opened in early 1986. PGA WEST earned its title as "The Western Home of Golf in America"® by hosting so many renowned tournaments including players from the PGA TOUR, Senior PGA Tour, LPGA, and NCAA.
One of the most famous shots in golf history occurred right here at the Stadium Golf Course, when Lee Trevino made a hole-in-one during the 1988 Skins Game at number 17, "Alcatraz." And David Duval's eagle on the 18th of the Arnold Palmer Private course to win the 1999 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic (now the Humana Challenge) with a record-shattering 59, is one of professional golf’s greatest moments.
Year after year, loyal fans and visitors return to PGA WEST to watch great pros, A-list celebrities and amateurs battle it out for another triumph. The Humana Challenge, named by Sports Business Journal and Sports Business Daily the Sports Event of the Year for 2012, is now an international groundbreaking golf event.
