Horse thief Creek via Cactus Springs Trail
Saturday, March 11th
8:00am
This hike is moderate with a few tricky spots!
In the Santa Rosa Mountains up Highway 74, 15.5 miles southwest of Highway 111, is Horse thief Creek, an almost 5 mile up and back hike with an elevation gain of 900ft. Horse thief Creek is an unusual hike in that it starts on a downhill going approximately 2.5 miles to the creek. Passing along the way an old dolomite mine. In wet seasons the creek is deep and cool. The second part of the hike is back up the hill we came from, saving the most challenging part of the hike for the end.
We must have 5 Members signed up at least 24 hours in advance.
