Horse Thief Creek Trail
Saturday April 11, 2015
Time: 8 am
Difficulty: Easy/Moderate
Elevation Gain: 900 feet
16 miles up highway 74 on the east side of the highway is Horse Thief Creek. The hike starts on a down hill thicket of cacti and pinyon pine vegetation. We will pass the remains of an old abandoned dolomite mine. A roller coaster of a trail will lead us to a lovely spring, where cowboys once kept their herds penned because of the water supply at Horse Thief Creek. There is a lot of loose rock so please wear sturdy hiking boots.
