Our final Winemaker's Dinner of the season highlights a selection of wines from Swanson Vineyards, which owns 100 acres along the Oakville Cross Road in Oakville. This special land, right next to Opus One and Silver Oak Cellars in the Napa Valley, is where Swanson produces wine of great elegance and finesse.
Chris Phelps, who will represent the vineyard at our dinner, joined the Swanson team in 2003 as their winemaker. Chris has contributed a fresh, cutting-edge perspective to all phases of winemaking with a style that can be summarized as minimalist, in respect of excellent grapes.
“My job as a winemaker is to form an honest interpretation of what a specific vineyard site in a specific vineyard is trying to tell me,” Chris says. And the Swanson Vineyard seems to be telling him a tale of wonderful aromas, flavors and complexities, due in large part to the alluvial soil of its 100-acre vineyard.
You can taste all of this and more, alongside a special menu created by Chef Jimmy Schmidt, at our winemaker’s dinner on Friday, May 2, at 6 p.m.

MOREL MUSHROOM FESTIVAL MENU
April 28 - May 10
The arrival of the Kingly Morel Mushroom announces that finally Spring has pushed back the snow from the wet forest floor. Morels are quite distinct in their un-mushroom-like conical shape with honeycombed wrinkly cap that takes up the entire fruit. We've infused the Morel spirit into a gratin under and "creme" over, while a delicate short rib is live smoked at your table. Dessert reflects the deep dark forest terrior where these elusive mushrooms hide.
Morels are fleeting, so celebrate early while they can be found!
$55 per person, exclusive of tax and gratuity. Optional wine pairing is also available,
