Vision for the Future

Restoring the Legacy of PGA WEST

In the summer of 2020, during the height of the pandemic, PGA WEST, under the new ownership of Century Golf Partners, launched an ambitious restoration project to revitalize all 162 holes across its five public and four private courses. This effort is part of Century Golf's broader vision to reaffirm PGA WEST as The Western Home of Golf in America, ensuring that each course delivers the best possible playing conditions for Members and guests.

Tim Liddy, ASGCA Fellow, led the restoration of the Pete Dye Stadium, Mountain, and Dunes Courses. With nearly 30 years of experience working alongside Pete Dye, Liddy has completed several of Dye's projects since his passing in 2020. Golf course shapers Scott Poole, Michael O'Connor, and Ron Farris joined Liddy on these restorations. Collectively, the team brings over 65 years of experience with Pete Dye, contributing to courses that have hosted 11 major championships, two Ryder Cups, two Solheim Cups, and numerous PGA tournaments.

Pete Dye Mountain and Dunes Courses An Archeological Dig

Liddy, who worked alongside Pete Dye for nearly three decades, described this project in the summer of 2023 as an exciting archeological dig, focused on uncovering the original features of the greens and restoring their timeless beauty and contours. The restoration process was carried out with meticulous care to recapture the visual impact that had faded over time. Teams carefully hand-dug around the bunkers and greens to reveal the original sand lines. Turf and layers of built-up organic material were then removed to revive the course's authentic design.
